SmartRevision Context menu

Overview:

When working on a project do you find yourself continuously saving your document under different names to have previous revisions and drafts available?

Would you like your file to auto-save under different revision names?

If so, SmartRevision is for you.

Using a unique file name format – DOC NAME r000 draft 00.indd – and saving previous revisions in a subfolder (RS_Archive) of the document’s folder.

A context menu item under File, SmartRevision installs 3 menu items:

  • Update Revision: Updates the revision number of the current file
  • Update Draft: Updates the Draft number of the current file
  • Start/Stop Auto-revision: Also lets you set the time interval (in minutes) for the auto-revision update.

It also installs a Update Book Draft in the Book menu. This feature is not 100% functional but works in most cases.

Installation:

Copy the script to your startup scripts folder and restart InDesign
